Housekeeping during a crisis? Nope, for me it doesn’t happen. Housekeeping is hard enough without a crisis.
I had a major crisis literally land on my doorstep this week and my life is completely disrupted. A close family member experienced sudden and severe marital difficulties and has come to stay with me for awhile (not sure if it’s going to be a short term or a long term thing).
Right now, I feel fortunate if I remember to brush my hair before leaving the house … taking care of the dust bunnies is a pretty low priority (although I’m still taking care of the real bunnies).
One of the nice things I discovered this week about having gotten caught up on some of the regular weekly chores — such as keeping the bathrooms neat and clean every Thursday — has been that when the crisis came to stay, my bathrooms were ready for someone else to use the facilities without embarrassment.
My new priority this weekend is getting the extra bedroom switched into a Guest Room from a storage room.
Sigh. Life just keeps happening. And all I want to do is get my house clean. 😉
Onward and upward. Hopefully.
